Annapurna Circuit Trek
Annapurna
Circuit Trek Overview
The Annapurna Circuit Trek, starting
in Bhulbhule (840m), is one of the most renowned trekking routes in Nepal. The
trail spans approximately 300 kilometers and encompasses the Annapurna
Himalayas, following the Marsyangdi River in the east and the Kali Gandaki
River in the west.
The trek’s pinnacle is crossing
Thorong La Pass (5,416m), the highest mountain pass in the world, offering
mesmerizing views of the Himalayas. Another highlight is trekking through the
Kali Gandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge, nestled between Dhaulagiri
(8,167m) and Annapurna (7,219m–8,091m).
As you ascend, the scenery
transforms from lush terraced fields and dense forests to arid high-altitude
deserts. The area is home to Himalayan blue sheep, mountain goats, colorful
pheasants, and, if lucky, the elusive snow leopard.
The cultural diversity along the
route is equally captivating, with Brahmin and Chhetri villages in the lower
regions, transitioning to Tibetan-influenced Thakali, Magar, Tamang, and Gurung
communities as you climb higher. This trek is a harmonious blend of natural
beauty, cultural immersion, and thrilling adventure.
