The trail then leads through forested ridges and traditional villages to Nagarkot, Nepal’s most famous viewpoint for sunrises and sunsets over the Himalayas. Continuing on, you’ll trek to Dhulikhel, a historic Newari town, and then hike through peaceful countryside to reach the sacred site of Namobuddha Monastery, one of the most revered Buddhist pilgrimage spots in Nepal.

The trek concludes with a walk to Panauti, a hidden gem filled with ancient temples, cobblestone streets, and cultural richness, before heading back to Kathmandu. This route is perfect for beginners or those short on time, offering easy to moderate trails, friendly villages, forested paths, and constant glimpses of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Itinerary

Start with a scenic drive to Sundarijal, the gateway to Shivapuri National Park. Begin your trek ascending through dense forests, water streams, and Tamang villages. The trail passes Mulkharka before reaching Chisapani, a beautiful hill station offering serene mountain views and a cool climate. Today’s trek continues through forest trails, farmlands, and rural settlements. The path is less commercial and offers a genuine experience of hill life. Reach Nagarkot by evening, famous for its stunning sunset and sunrise views of the Himalayas. Overnight in a hotel with a mountain view. 🌅 Highlights: Sunset over the Himalayas, views of Mt. Wake up early for sunrise, then continue your trek toward Dhulikhel. The trail descends through terraced farms and local villages.
